As 2017 comes to a close, I can’t help but reflect on everything that has happened over the past year. This year has been filled with many great memories and I wish I could write about all of them, but here are just some of my favorites.
Adopted a cat
We adopted Cosmo in the very beginning of the year and I’m so glad we did! He is a such a furry ball of cuteness and love. He was a scruffy little kitten when we got him and now he’s grown into a spunky young cat who loves to play, chase shadows and can always make us laugh. Cosmo has been such a wonderful addition to our family. We all love him so much, even Luna.
Bought our first house
I think this is the biggest highlight of 2017! This year we were so fortunate to be able to buy our first home in Geneva. It’s the perfect starter home (3 bedroom, 1.5 bath split level) in an absolutely wonderful neighborhood. We are surrounded by friendly, welcoming neighbors and are in such a great community. I’ve absolutely loved being able to decorate the house and having a place for all our DIY projects. Luna and Cosmo certainly take advantage of having more space to run around in. I look forward to making many more happy memories in this house. Sometimes I still can’t believe it’s ours.
Celebrated 1 year of marriage
In August we celebrated our one year wedding anniversary! The first year of marriage flew by — I guess it’s true when they say time flies when you’re having fun. We have really grown as a couple and together we’ve been able to accomplish so many great things. We are by no means a perfect couple, but with love, patience, forgiveness and a lot of laughter, we make an awesome team. I’m so blessed to call him my husband, my partner, my best friend, my other half. We’ve got many more years and memories to come and I can’t wait!
Started a new job
This fall I had had the opportunity to start a new job doing marketing for a local real estate group. It was a little scary, just because the dynamics of the job were very different from what I had been used to. But I really felt this is where God was leading me so I took the risk and I couldn’t be happier that I did! It’s been such a blessing to work in such a positive, encouraging environment. I do work that I love and am challenged by. Plus I now have the flexibility to work from home some days which has been an added benefit. I get to spend more time with my husband (who also usually works from home) and the fur kids.
My best friend got engaged
This one isn’t directly about me, but my best friend recently got engaged and I’m so happy for her! This such an exciting time for her and I’m extremely blessed to be a part of it. We have been friends for more than 10 years and throughout those years we’ve stood by each other through a lot of ups and downs, especially when it comes to relationships and romance, so I’m looking forward to her starting this new chapter. Let the wedding planning begin!
Like any year, this one had it ups and downs. But I can honestly say 2017 was a wonderful year and I am so grateful for everything God has blessed me with. I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store!
